Soft shipping pads from a fictional shipping company.
This was a project to be used in VRChat, made for Furality Somna.
The MHS Transport Safety collection of industrial padding products was initially introduced due to external pressure from public safety regulatory bodies. These pads are primarily for use in heavily populated areas, where robots and non-robots have a high chance of quite literally running into each other.
Public transport safety is a more specifice use case for these pads. In the event where a robot with a rigid chassis may need to use public transport, these pads must be strapped onto the hard and/or sharp surfaces of their body. This step ensures the safety of all non-machine riders, primarily in crash scenarios. Robots with full autonomy have the ability to exercise consent and deny the usage of padding. In the event of a machine denying padding, a legitimate Verified Consciousness ID Card must be presented to the attending driver of the vehicle.
In the context of VRChat, this particular example of the MHS pads have been stolen from a shipping location and duct taped onto my player model. The idea being that this robot stole the shipping pads from a bus to be used as pajamas for Furality Somna.

The modeling process was quite a rushed hackjob, being on a time limit and using methods I've never tried before made it a bit chaotic. What came out is imperfect but still pretty cool I think. The final total for this set of pads is around 10k triangles, which isn't what I would consider awful as a solo accessory in VRChat's context. I could have definitely reduced that count more, but I was on a time limit and had to make some shortcuts.
I made this before my previous post about the balloon heart, so I didn't actually use cloth sims for this. I definitely will be trying this again in the future using cloth sims.
