Made for the blenderartists.org 10 Cubes Challenge
The Blender Artist's forum is not perfect, but events like the 10 Cubes Challenge are something that I view as a massive positive in the world of art, and the forum specifically. This is a no-stakes 'challenge' where you make one (or more) of the 10 prompts, with the primary restriction that it must be made with 10 cuboids. The rules are simple and flexible; This is a simple challenge meant to inspire.
I highly recommend that everyone try the 10 cubes challenge. Like the organizer says,
"If you are tired and worn out, just take a little bit of time and do one prompt. Any prompt at all. You can just make one up too… Limit yourself to 10 cubes and make an art. You will feel better when you are done, You might even want to make another art."
As a blender artist of about 3 years currently, this challenge is an excellent way to bring back the simple fun of modeling for me. For a beginner, this is a realistically achievable challenge that you can do just to have some real and basic fun with modeling and composition.
How do you make a shape with only 10 cuboids? What embellishments do you add to the basic cubes to spruce up the final render? There's a lot of creative ways to add details into the model when you completely restrict your access to the modeling aspect of Blender.
The 10 cubes challenge allows you to dip into things you may rarely use or have never used at all before, but it also allows you to do the bare minimum and still feel good about something you composed and rendered yourself.
I technically bent the rules a bit to fit my goals, but that's the whole point of the challenge anyways. Give it a shot, have fun, and share your art.
